Why We're Different — Container Shelters

The Container Shelters Difference

Why We're Different

We've installed over 3,500 shelters across New Zealand. Here's what we engineer differently — and why it matters for the long-term performance of your shelter.

See How

The details that make the difference

Most shelters look similar on paper. The differences show up after a few seasons of NZ weather. Every decision we've made is about building something that performs for the long haul.

01 — Galvanising

100% Hot Dip Galvanised. Every Structural Component.

Most of our competitors hot dip galvanise their main structural components — but not everything. We galvanise every structural component, bracket and fitting that goes into your shelter. It costs more to do, but it's the only way to guarantee long-term rust protection across the whole structure.

Every structural component and bracket — the only exceptions are consumable hardware like ratchets.

02 — Next Gen Kedar Technology

Next Gen Kedar Technology. Zero Flogging.

Flogging — cover fabric slapping and chafing against the frame in the wind — is the fastest way to wear out a shelter. We eliminate it entirely using a kedar strip locked into an aluminium track along every wall and door frame. The cover is held firmly in place. It can't move, it can't flog, and your shelter lasts significantly longer as a result.

Next gen kedar technology — completely eliminates flogging, the #1 cause of premature shelter wear.

03 — Fixings

Engineered to Be Rope-Free.

Rope is the first thing to fail on a shelter. UV, wind and moisture degrade it quickly — and once it goes, so does what it was holding. We've engineered rope out of our shelters entirely, replacing every fixing with purpose-built hardware designed for long-term outdoor use. We're in the final stages of phasing out older rope-based stock, so all new shelters leaving our factory are fully rope-free.

All new shelters are rope-free — purpose-built hardware on every fixing point.

04 — Cover Colour

White Covers. There's a Reason We Avoid Dark Colours.

We spec white covers on all our shelters as standard, and we can supply in grey, green, blue and yellow when required. But there's a reason we avoid dark colours — the data backs it up:

  • White reflects 99% of the sun's UV, dramatically reducing heat build-up inside
  • We tested our own white and grey covers side by side on a 30°C day. The white fabric measured 31°C — the grey hit 50°C. At that temperature, covers get tacky, stretch, and become very difficult to work with
  • That expansion and contraction across summer cycles accelerates wear on darker covers, and often means re-tensioning is needed after just a few weeks
  • White interiors are naturally bright and airy — coloured covers make for a much darker space
  • Despite the common belief, white covers don't get dirty faster — all colours show dirt at the same rate
We have the test data to back this up. Ask us about our cover temperature comparison.
