CONTAINERS

The Foundations,
And The Storage.

On a container-mounted shelter the containers do three jobs at once — they carry the structure, they are your side walls and they are lockable storage. Buy them with the shelter, or on their own.

✓20ft & 40ft
✓Standard & Hi-Cube
✓New Or Second Hand
✓Modifications Available
FIRST, THE LENGTH

20ft Or 40ft.

Same width, same height, different length. Which one you need usually comes down to how much storage you want and how long you want the shelter to be.

Heights shown are for standard containers. Hi-Cubes are taller — see below.

THEN, THE HEIGHT

Standard Or Hi-Cube?

Length is the obvious choice. Height is the one people forget — and on a container-mounted shelter it decides how much clearance you end up with underneath.

MOST COMMON

Standard

2.59mexternal height

The default. Fine for most storage and most shelter builds, and usually the easier of the two to source second hand.

EXTRA CLEARANCE

Hi-Cube

2.89mexternal height

Roughly 300mm taller. That lifts the whole shelter, which matters when you are trying to get a truck, a telehandler or a raised tipper underneath.

It raises the whole shelter

The shelter mounts on top of the containers, so every millimetre of container height is added to your apex height and your clearance underneath.

Try not to mix them

Different heights down each side is not ideal, though it can be worked around. Tell us what you already have and we will confirm the arrangement when quoting.

Both figures are published

Every shelter product page lists the apex height on standard containers and on Hi-Cubes, so you can check it against your machinery before you enquire.

Not sure which you need? Tell us what has to fit underneath and we will tell you which height gets you there. See how container mounting works →

MODIFICATIONS

They Do Not Have To Stay A Box.

A container off the ship is a starting point. Cut it, line it, wire it and it becomes whatever the site needs — and it is far quicker and cheaper than putting up a building to do the same job.

Container offices

A fitted-out office at the end of the yard, or built into the side of your shelter so the site office and the storage are the same structure.

Cut-outs and openings

Openings cut into the side or the end, so a container stops being a dead wall and starts being part of how you move around the building.

Custom doors

Beyond the standard cargo doors — personnel access, wider openings, or doors put where you actually need them rather than where they came from the factory.

Something else?

This is not a fixed menu. If you can describe what you need the container to do, tell us and we will work out whether it can be done and what it costs.

[PLACEHOLDER] Confirm the full modification list and add photos of completed work — three examples with no images is thin for a capability this useful.

WHAT THEY DO

Working Harder Than A Shed.

No piles, no concrete footings

On a container-mounted shelter the containers carry the structure, so in most cases there is no piling and no reinforcing. The site still needs preparing — topsoil stripped and compacted hardfill laid to the specified bearing capacity — but there is no cure time before you can use the space.

Walls you can lock

The same containers holding the shelter up are secure, dry storage from the day they land. Nothing else on a site does both jobs at once.

Part of the hold-down

Their weight does a lot of the work keeping the structure down, though on their own they are usually not enough — we specify what else your wind zone needs.

Fine on their own

Plenty of customers buy containers with no shelter at all, just for straightforward secure storage on a yard or a farm.

New or second hand, 20ft or 40ft, standard or Hi-Cube, modified or straight off the truck — tell us what the job is and we will sort the rest.

How many, and where to?

Tell us the size, the height, how many you need and the delivery address. If they are going under a shelter or need modifying, tell us that too and we will price the lot together.
