MANUFACTURING & PROCESSING SHELTERS
Floor Space,
Fast.
Production areas, raw material and finished goods storage, fabrication bays and dispatch cover — standard spans to 24m, custom built to 25m clear.
TRUSTED BY INDUSTRY LEADERS ACROSS NEW ZEALAND SINCE 2014
Column-Free Floor
Nothing internal to design your production flow around.
Custom Engineered
25m clear span built where the standard range wasn't enough.
Days, Not Months
Capacity added without pausing production.
Clearance Figures
Span, rise and apex height listed for every width.
Operating Since 2014
Over a decade supplying shelters throughout New Zealand.
Kiwi Lumber
A fully custom build: 25 metres of clear span between the containers, 30 metres overall, running 50 metres in length. Roughly 1,500 square metres of covered space with no internal columns anywhere in it.
Timber processing needs product kept dry and forklifts kept moving. Mounting outside to outside brought the containers themselves under the roof and added five metres to the covered width — without adding anything to the floor that a machine has to drive around.
Built Around The Production Line
Production and assembly space, raw material and finished goods storage, timber and product drying, fabrication bays, dispatch cover and plant maintenance — covered area that follows how the operation actually runs.

Expand Without Stopping Production
A conventional building means consent, groundworks, a construction programme and a yard full of contractors. A container shelter gives you the floor space in days, on your existing hardstand, without interrupting the line — and it can be added to as volumes grow.
How Much Floor Do You Actually Get?
Every width in the standard range has its clear span, rise and overall apex height listed on its own page, on both standard and Hi-Cube containers. Check the mast height on your tallest forklift against the figures before you talk to anyone.
The two width figures matter as much as the height. The shelter is the same size either way: mounted inside to inside you get the full quoted clear span, while mounting outside to outside brings the containers under cover and reduces the clear space between them.

Boat Building Fabrication Shelter
Double-stacked with a hangar door, purpose-configured for large-format fabrication under cover.
2,100m² In Four Weeks
100m of 21m wide shelter delivered and installed inside four weeks, with roughly 400m now across their branches.
Over 3,500 shelters installed across New Zealand.
From timber processing and fabrication through to packhouses, depots, quarries and contractor yards, Container Shelters has become one of New Zealand's most widely used shelter systems.

Common Questions From Operations Managers
Practical answers to the questions we get asked most by manufacturers and processors.
How wide can you actually go?
Our standard range runs from 6m through to 24m of clear span between containers. Beyond that we engineer custom — the Kiwi Lumber build is 25 metres clear span, 30 metres overall, by 50 metres long. If your operation needs more than the standard range covers, tell us the dimensions and we'll design to them.
What's the difference between clear span and overall width?
Clear span is the usable space between the containers. Overall width includes the containers themselves. Mounted inside to inside, the shelter lands on the inner edges and you get the quoted clear span. Mounted outside to outside, it lands on the outer edges and adds roughly five metres to the overall covered width — two container widths. Both figures are given for every shelter.
How long can a single shelter run?
Standard lengths are 20ft and 40ft, but because the bays are modular they can be joined well beyond that. We have built runs in excess of 100 metres, and we can manufacture one-piece covers to most lengths.
Will it interrupt production to install?
Far less than a conventional build. There are no deep foundations and installation is typically measured in days, so the work is contained rather than running as a construction programme across your site.
Are there internal columns?
No. The span is clear between the mounting points, so there is nothing internal to design your production flow, racking or vehicle movements around.
Can we extend it later as volumes grow?
Yes. Shelters are modular in length, so additional bays can be added. End walls, doors and gutters can also be added or upgraded later without replacing the structure.
Do we need building consent?
Consent requirements vary depending on location, size, intended use and how long the structure will remain in place. We can provide engineering documentation to support a consent application where one is required.
Can it be installed on our existing hardstand?
Usually yes. Shelters mount to containers, block walls or posts rather than requiring deep foundations, so a prepared hardstand is generally sufficient. We confirm requirements for your ground conditions during design.
