MINING & QUARRYING SHELTERS
Built For
Hard Ground.
Aggregate storage, plant protection, maintenance bays and processing cover — spans up to 24 metres, engineered for New Zealand quarry and mine sites.
TRUSTED BY INDUSTRY LEADERS ACROSS NEW ZEALAND SINCE 2014
Spans To 24m
Column-free cover across the full stockpile or workface.
No Deep Foundations
Mounts to containers, blocks or posts on existing hardfill.
Relocatable
Moves with the pit as the operation advances.
Published Dimensions
Every span, rise and apex height listed before you enquire.
Operating Since 2014
Over a decade supplying shelters throughout New Zealand.
Winstone Aggregates, Hunua
A 21m wide shelter mounted on double-stacked containers, giving Winstone Aggregates a large covered area with the height clearance needed for loaders and truck movements underneath.
Double-stacking lifts the whole structure clear of working machinery, so the covered area stays usable for material handling rather than just static storage.
Cover Where The Work Actually Happens
Aggregate and sand stockpiles, processed product storage, crusher and conveyor cover, maintenance bays, wash-down areas and workshops — shelter that keeps product dry and plant serviceable.
Aggregate & Stockpile Cover

A Structure That Moves With The Pit
Quarry layouts change. Stockpile locations shift, workfaces advance and consent boundaries move. A container shelter can be dismantled and re-erected on a new pad rather than written off with the site plan.
Will It Clear Your Loader?
Every width in the range has its clear span, rise and overall apex height listed on its own page, on both standard and Hi-Cube containers, single or double-stacked.
Take your tallest machine at full tip and check it against the figures before you talk to anyone. If nothing in the range works for your clearance, site-specific engineering usually can.
Working Sites Across New Zealand
More examples of shelters built for yards, depots and heavy material handling.
12m x 60ft Clear Span
Covered material handling on an active mine site, with clear span for loaders to work under cover through winter.
Site Compound & Smoko Room
Mounted outside to outside so the containers sit under cover too — crib room, storage and dry space in one structure.
Over 3,500 shelters installed across New Zealand.
From quarry stockpiles and aggregate stores through to contractor yards, transport depots and heavy maintenance bays, Container Shelters has become one of New Zealand's most widely used shelter systems.

Tell us the span, the length and what's going underneath. We'll confirm the right configuration and the engineering requirements for your site.
Common Questions From Site Managers
Practical answers to the questions we get asked most on quarry and mine sites.
Can a shelter be relocated when the pit advances?
Yes. Because the shelters mount to containers, block walls or posts rather than conventional foundations, they can be dismantled and re-erected on a new pad. This is one of the main reasons quarry operators choose them over a permanent build.
What span do I need to cover a stockpile?
It depends on the angle of repose and the volume you're holding, but our range runs from 6m through to 24m clear between containers. Every width has its span, rise and apex height published, so you can check it against your stockpile profile and loader reach before enquiring.
Will a loader or truck fit underneath?
Mounting on double-stacked containers lifts the whole structure to give significant clearance underneath. Overall apex heights range from around 4.36m up to 9.04m depending on the width and container configuration, and all figures are listed on each shelter page.
Do we need building consent?
Consent requirements vary depending on location, size, intended use and how long the structure will stay in place. We can provide engineering documentation to support a consent application where one is required.
What wind zones are your shelters suitable for?
All our shelters are designed for all wind regions. Quarry sites are often elevated and exposed, so we assess each one individually and can provide site-specific engineering where the pre-design doesn't cover it.
Can it be installed on hardfill rather than concrete?
In most cases yes. Shelters mount to containers, block walls or posts, so a prepared hardstand is usually sufficient. We'll confirm what's required for your ground conditions as part of the design.
Can we add walls or doors later?
Yes. End walls, access doors and gutter systems are modular and can be added, removed or upgraded as your requirements change.
Do you install nationwide?
Yes. We supply and install throughout New Zealand using our nationwide installer network.
